Clinic Policy & Patient Consent
At ADHD & Beyond Medical we provide professional, accessible, patient-centred care. These policies help keep our clinics safe, fair and on time for everyone. Please read them before your appointment.
Our clinic policy and your consent
Important: By booking and attending an appointment, you confirm that you have read this policy. We explain your assessment and treatment options at your appointment and ask for your consent before we proceed.
1. Appointments
Your first ADHD consultation is face to face at our Bondi Junction or Maroubra clinic. Follow-up appointments can be face to face, by phone or by video where appropriate. We recommend arriving, or being ready for your call, 10 minutes before your appointment.
2. Late arrivals
To make sure patients who are on time receive their full appointment, we apply a late arrival policy. For standard appointments, if you arrive or join 5 minutes late or less, your appointment will be shortened to the remaining time and charged in full. For the one-hour initial ADHD assessment, this is 10 minutes or less. If you are later than this, we may not be able to see you, and this will be treated as a no-show.
3. Deposit and cancellation
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your appointment. It is applied towards the cost of your appointment. We cannot hold your appointment if the deposit is not received within 24 hours of booking. You may reschedule once, free of charge, if you give us at least 2 days' notice. Further changes, or a reschedule with less than 2 days' notice, are treated as a cancellation. If you cancel with at least 1 week's notice, your deposit is refunded less a 2% processing fee. If you cancel with less than 1 week's notice, or do not attend, your deposit is forfeited and no refund is given. Approved refunds are processed within 3 to 5 business days. Refunds cannot be issued once your consultation has taken place.
4. Referrals and previous reports
You do not need a referral to book an appointment. If you have previous ADHD assessments or reports, please provide them before your appointment. We will tell you whether they can be used for continuation prescribing.
5. Medication and prescribing
Dr Hiran Edirisinghe prescribes ADHD medication in line with NSW prescribing requirements. Prescriptions are issued only after a comprehensive assessment and are reviewed regularly. To continue treatment, patients need to attend their review appointments and follow their agreed treatment plan. We check prescription monitoring systems as required by law.
6. Consent and AI scribe
You can ask questions, or change your mind about treatment, at any time. For children, a parent or legal guardian gives consent to assessment and treatment. Some clinicians use an AI scribe called Heidi to help with note-taking. We ask for your separate consent before it is used, and you can opt out at any time without affecting your care. See our Privacy Policy for details.
7. Respectful behaviour
We have zero tolerance for abuse, threats or harassment of our patients, families and staff. We may end a consultation, or decline further appointments, if this happens.
8. Emergencies
We are not an emergency or crisis service. In an emergency call 000. For urgent mental health support call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
9. Feedback and complaints
If you have a concern, please tell us so we can try to fix it. Call 1800 69 2343 or use our Contact page. You can also contact the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission.
